At Janey’s house I found a note on the table:
To the police or whatever –
I have walked out to the end of Kalmus Beach and jumped off the jetty. I swim pretty well but I may not feel like swimming. If there are too many people at Kalmus maybe Sea Street.
This is probably nothing to worry about.
I was completely at a loss. I caught my bus.
